Abstract

Nursing students often face high levels of stress during intensive clinical practice. This is triggered by heavy academic demands, the workload in the clinical environment, the process of adapting to healthcare situations, and the emotional pressure of interacting directly with patients. This study aims to examine various stress management strategies employed by nursing students during clinical practice. The study used a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with 15 final-year students from a nursing educational institution. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis to identify the types of coping mechanisms and sources of support utilized by the students. The results showed that students used a combination of coping strategies oriented toward problem-solving and emotional management, such as study time management, peer support, developing a positive mindset, and implementing relaxation techniques. Furthermore, institutional support and the active role of clinical instructors have been shown to help reduce students' stress levels. These findings emphasize the importance of integrating stress management training into the nursing curriculum and strengthening institutional support to increase student resilience during clinical practice.
